Hooray For Summer: Cool Off in AU!

Oh summer; it’s a great time of the year. There are so many things that you can do when the weather is warm.   • The Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean road is a gorgeous area that is well known for beautiful views and spectacular destinations. It’s a fabulous spot to visit when you’re travelling in the summer and just need to cool off. There are several different beaches to visit along the way. Torquay Beach, Anglesea Beach, Bells Beach, and the 12 Apostles are all amazing places to visit while in the area. From surfing to breathtaking views, there are plenty of reasons to travel on the Great Ocean Road to these beach destinations.

  • 75 Mile Beach
    When there never seems to be enough beach for you, visit the 75 Mile Beach. From driving in a 4WD to see the beauty to walks and landing in an airplane, 75 Mile Beach is a gorgeous strip of sand and water on Fraser Island in Queensland. Just be aware that you may only want to wade into the water, as sharks call this place their home. Also, the currents are pretty rough during certain times of the year. Some highlights are Indian Head and the Maheno Shipwreck.
  • Hyams Beach

It’s a great spot for relaxing and swimming with the kids. It’s Australia’s version of paradise and it’s definitely a place that you’ll want to include on your itinerary while traveling in a campervan hire.

  • Laughing Waters
    A fitting name for a great place to cool off, Laughing Waters is a set of water pools near Eltham. Surrounded by the bush with water rapids nearby, this is a fun spot for relaxing in nature and for getting a glimpse of Australian nature. If you’re traveling with children, Laughing Waters is an ideal location for water fun that isn’t a beach. But, as with any river rapids, exercise caution with them.
  • Figure Eight Pools

It isn’t the safest place to go and you shouldn’t try to visit with kids, but if you’re up to adventure, try exploring the area and go to Figure Eight Pools. These pools are gorgeous and fun to sit in, plus they look pretty cool! Just be careful to only visit in low-tide and to be cautious when walking in the area. Make sure to check conditions before going to avoid having to get air-lifted out of the area.

  • Gunlom Infinity Pools
    This natural “infinity” pool is gorgeous, cool, and will reward you with stunning views of the scenery below. You can hike up to the Gunlom Infinity pools at Gunlom Falls and find a place to cool off after putting in some effort. Not only is the park worth visiting any time of the year with gorgeous views and nature, but in the summer, it’s the perfect spot for a dip.  Bring your camera and enjoy a cool swim as you look at the landscape below. Be aware that you can’t just swim anywhere in Gunlom; crocodiles call this area their home.
  • Wineglass Bay
    Freycinet National Park is already a place that you should plan to visit, but if you’re looking for a “water hole” for cooling off in during the summer, go to Wineglass Bay. A gorgeous bay with clear waters and white sand making it a romantic little spot that is easy to swim in and perfect for pictures.

 

While it may get quite hot in Australia, the country has some iconic beaches and water pools that are worth your time. Gorgeous views, fascinating landscapes, and interesting experiences are waiting for you in the Down Under. The weather is warm and the sun is scorching, making this a perfect time to visit the beautiful waters of Australia.
